Hey, so I’m currently still in high school. I come from a Muslim Arab family living abroad because of my dad’s job. My parents aren’t supportive of me studying anywhere outside my home country, but I don’t want them to control where I pursue my education. They’ve also been less supportive of me personally because of things they consider major sins. I’m just a teenager, and I can’t change who I am or who I love.
Anyway, putting my backstory aside—my main question is: if I manage to leave my household and cut ties with my family, is it realistically possible to pay for my own tuition while studying? I’m hoping to go to the UK.
It's possible, you need good grades and testing scores. I suggest Germany. College is free for all people, including international students, aside from a small living and food cost. You can qualify for a cheap health insurance, which is unfortunately required in Germany. But it's doable.
I would say yes if you start saving money now, secure a scholarship (try to get more than one ), and try to get a school that has work study programs so you can work in school ( most U.S.A colleges have them ) .
Yes, it’s possible to pay your own tuition, but as an international student it’s very difficult unless you secure scholarships, save money first, or choose a more affordable study path before the UK.
Being very realistic, no. If you're not eligible for UK tuition I would not recommend it as most international student tuitions are above 40k/year.
For other places, it depends on what passports you have and I recommend that if you have an EU passport to go to Ireland as their tuiton for EU students is only 8,000/year which is realistic to pay by yourself. In Spain you have the IE that costs about 26,000 euros/year in tuiton which can be possible through hard work. You have the Netherlands (Delft) which is 4,000 eur/year and KAIST in Korea for 9k/year. I would recommend looking at Europe as most of them have affordable tuiton. Wish you a lot of luck and I hope you manage to find a way to make your situation work.
I mean, in the UK it's really hard to get a scholarship if you still have the chance, like you're just planning to get your visa, you should go to the US because they give you insane financial aid and it's really easy to get.

Hmm.. KAIST is hell considering it's ranking. As a Korean, KAIST isn't worth it having it as your goal.
