Do I need to take SAT if I apply to prestige school?

Many school do not need SAT for colleges 2022-2023? I still wonder if someone with SAT will have an advantage over someone without SAT score.

Welcome aboard! This is a great resource.

I actually just spoke with a professional about this. She said that if you take the exam and do well, it is definitely a plus. If you take it and get a meh score, then just don't report it. A good score, depending on the school, could definitely sway the admissions your way.

Ideally, yes. A high score would be ideal. If your score is below the middle 50% and/or you had a lack of access to SAT/ACT test centers, then you should go test-optional.

Colleges say that taking the SAT does not impact your chances at admission... The SAT is basically a standardized test which measures your ability to compute generic math questions and reading/grammar questions. But if the SAT counted, you might even consider it as a monetary tribute: you pay for the test, get a score, and have higher chance of going to a prestigious school.

But you're asking if you need to take the SAT to apply. So, no.
