Gender and Sexuality Studies or Design Major

My calling is for women's advocacy but I feel like I should major in something that I can use later in life and will land me a job right after college. Should I major in women's studies which I love or in UI design which I am passionate about and will land me a job?

I recommend taking a look at this CollegeVine blog. My advice is that you should think not only about the academic subject matter of the majors, but also about the skills they can teach you. For example, a history major learns much more than historical facts - they gain an aptitude in writing, analysis, research, communication, cultural understanding, and many other areas that relate to jobs in a variety of fields. I hope this helps you choose between these major options!

I would suggest majoring in one and minoring in the other - that way you could get a job working in design for a company that also deals with gender and sexuality.

Hi! Go forward to the major that you are passionate which is IU design. If you are thinking to purse a career and only get a job, you will not be successful in life. Have you seen people that work in a place, like hospitals and mistreat patients because they are not compassionate? They don’t have skills, the reason is, they are looking for a good pay job. I’m not saying that earning money is the idea ,but keep in mind that working in an environment that you really love is the best. Remember, you are going to spend 40 hours+ in your job. Good luck.
