The benefit of an Ivy over a T20 school is pretty much just the name. Ivys open a lot of doors in the professional world and the name on your degree will make life a lot easier, so if you think you have a chance of getting in I would say to go for it. If they have low percentages of your race/ethnicity, it actually works in your favor, as most schools are looking to expand the diversity of their student bodies. However, keep in mind that if you do not meet the academic requirements of the college, then you most likely won't be accepted regardless of race.

Generally speaking, the Ivy League schools are well-established universities that will give you more extensive resources than most(not all) universities.

There are several big names that are not Ivy Leagues: Stanford, MIT, Duke, Vanderbilt, Rice, Caltech, UC Berkeley, Northwestern, etc.

Just going to an Ivy doesn't guarantee future success. What is more important is how well the Ivy is ranked for your major as compared to other universities. Also, the location of a university determines the experiential learning opportunities available to you.

So, consider all criteria while applying.
