Virginia schools in psychology

I had always wanted to go to Penn state for college, but I have since learned that out of state school cost much more to attend. I started to look into school in my state (VA) and fell in love with the idea of getting a BS Behavioral Neuroscience at UVA (University of Virginia) . How can I make sure I'm on the right track to get into UVA or any other psychology school in Virginia? I am going into my sophomore year, I do marching band, was JV soccer team captain, crochet, babysit, read, have a gpa of 3.8, like to do research into random things and am hoping to join more clubs this school year. Can any of that help improve my chances for a psychology school? Also is there any other good school in Virginia to attend for psychology?
