Hello forums, I’m currently a ninth grader, and I’m trying to build a strong profile of colleges, and I’m trying to figure out where to go next. I would like to find reach, safety, and target schools that have strong computer science and/or aerospace engineering majors. I have a very strong projected coursework rigor (16 Honors, 12+ IB [not entirely sure of HL/SL split or total count]), through my GPA is only a 3.5. I have okay extracurriculars, including a decent bit of game / software development already, and I do plan to go further with it.
I would love to know schools with good computer science and/or aerospace engineering programs, preferably those that are diverse and accepting to LGBTQ+ students.
Thanks in advance!

I’m glad to see you’re preparing for your academic future! If you’re looking for schools with good Computer Science and Aerospace Engineering programs, I think you might want to consider schools like MIT, Stanford, or Georgia Tech. These places are known for their quality of teaching and research opportunities. In addition, participating in game projects like color block jam level is also a great way to improve your programming skills.
My son is an aerospace engineering student at UT Austin and loves it. it would be a reach for just about anybody. Purdue is strong in aerospace and a bit less selective. RIT and ASU would be good safety choices in my opinion. For Michigan, I would also look at other in-state schools like Mich State and Mich Tech.
Oh very cool ^^
I don’t know if Texas is specifically a good environment for me, but the others could be good
Not sure if you're referring to climate or not, but Austin is very open and accepting of LGBTQ+
I’m worried of Texas as a whole for a few reason (and the environment is not up my alley)
Gotcha. Good luck wherever you choose!!
I would say University of Michigan is a good reach, and they have a pretty good aerospace program.
I already had that on my list, since it’s pretty common for alumni from my high school to go there, and it’s in-state
Thanks for confirming that it might be a good fit for me, though I was wondering about any other suggestions
