I'm a sophomore right now in high school so I have a good amount of time to decide which college I want to go to in the future. I'm very passionate about music and I would definitely want to major in music for college. So I've been really looking into Berklee, as it is a college for mostly music. And i'm wondering if its worth it? Because it is pretty far from where I live, and pretty expensive. So should I focus on that school or should I look into another?
I wouldn’t rule it out. Obviously you shouldn’t put all your metaphorical eggs into one basket, so do look into other schools, but aside from the application fee, there isn’t any real harm in applying. Maybe you’d receive enough financial aid, maybe you wouldn’t. As a sophomore, I would definitely suggest you keep as many options open, but there’s no reason you shouldn’t consider a school like Berklee.
I'm also a sophomore and I've been looking into Berklee also but I also have found that Los Angeles College of Music (LACM) is a great college to consider as well if you are planing on going into the music industry. They look more into your creativity and how you accel in music and the arts rather than the traditional academics, although they are quite expensive as well they offer financial aid and you can find many financial aid, scholarships, and grants for whatever school you want to go to. Hope this helps!
