I am looking for a safety/target school in bigger cities. I am planning to do poli sci and want an area with high quality internships.
Some safety/targets in the Boston / Greater Boston area:
1) UMass Boston (much less competitive than UMass Amherst)
2) Brandeis Uni (target)
3) Emerson College (safety)
4) Wentworth Institute of Technology (safety)
5) Suffolk Uni (safety)
Pennsylvania: University of Pittsburgh, Drexel Uni
I had the impression Emerson was a performing arts school, do they have a good poly sci program?
I think it's more that they are benefiting from the surroundings and the city.
They sent this to me before on a College Vine connection request:
"If you're passionate about politics and want to study in the heart of a city known for its rich history and civic activism, Emerson College in Boston is the ideal place to start your journey. Our Political Communication BS program immerses you in the dynamic world of politics from day one, equipping you with the skills to tackle today’s most pressing challenges. Through hands-on opportunities, including working on Presidential and midterm election campaigns, you’ll gain practical experience in political strategy, speechwriting, and nonprofit leadership while directly engaging with voters and candidates.
You'll also have the chance to participate in Emerson Polling, a highly respected initiative recognized by Bloomberg and FiveThirtyEight for its accuracy. For those seeking a broader perspective, our Washington, DC program offers a unique chance to intern and study in the nation's capital, while globally-focused programs like the Rosarito Mexico Immigration and Border Workshop and our Sydney Global PR and Politics Program allow you to engage in diplomacy and civic work. For students interested in European politics, our sister college in Barcelona offers another avenue for international engagement. At Emerson, your education will stretch from Boston to the world stage, preparing you for an impactful career in political communication."
I would look at schools in DC! DC is right in the center of all the action so any school there would most likely have amazing internship opportunities. You should consider Georgetown, George Washington and American University just to name a couple!
