Good evening. I am planning to major in History. My goal is to become an archivist. What would be the best approach to achieving my goal?
Hello! If you're still in high school, I would definitely recommend taking as many AP/IB/Dual Enrollment courses in history and adjacent fields as possible. A great way to show that you're passionate about your field is through an internship. While it is tough for high schoolers to get internships, a great way to get your foot in the door is volunteering for a local historical society or similar. For example, I live near a presidential library, and they're always looking for tour guides. Cold emailing local history professors is also a good idea to see if they can hook you up with opportunities. The possibilities are only as finite as your imagination. Good luck!
Thank you. I have passed seven AP exams thus far.
