Hi! I'm a junior looking to major in aerospace engineering. Strange thing is, when looking for schools, even if the college has a fairly high acceptance rate, the specific aerospace engineering major always is pretty selective (lower than 50%). Does anyone know any school's that have a high acceptance rate for that specific major? I'm not sure if collegevine's chancing really answered this as all my target schools have about a 50 - 60% for me, but the major always has a considerably lower rate. I think I can get into at least one target, but I'm just paranoid and want to have some solid backups. Thanks!
Hey! One that I would definitely consider looking at is Embry-Riddle. I am also interested in Aero Engineering, and I know that they have a fairly high acceptance rate.
there's a FL location and an AZ location as well
Thank you! I'll definitely look into it. Glad to find another AE in wild :)
Hi. While I can't look too much at changing because your classes, grades, and extracurriculars are not mentioned, I can recommend some safety schools for ya:
1. ASU
2. Cal Poly Pomona
3. Clarkson University (New York)
4. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Daytona Beach
5. Iowa State University
6. RPI
7. Mississippi State University
If we're talking tuition fees, Mississippi State University may be the cheapest, having a net cost of 9k/year depending if you're out of state. There are plenty of options, but I would be able to find more that suit your specific needs if you could explain your grades, honors, APs, etc... (even price range can help filter your choices).
Good luck!
(Edit: You're best chances for this major will 10000% be in schools that are all about Aeronautical subjects.)
Hi! Thanks so much for replying. As requested, here are my classes and grades. Hope this helps: GPA weighted: 107.58824, GPA unweighted: 3.97059, 8 Honors, 16 AP. Thanks again!
According to your grades, here are your safety schools that have decent acceptance for aerospance engineering:
Arizona State University
California State Polytechnic University, Pomona
Clarkson University, New York
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Daytona Beach
Iowa State University
Mississippi State University | MSU
Missouri University of Science & Technology
New Mexico State University | NMSU
Oklahoma State University | OSU
Pennsylvania State University | Penn State
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute | RPI
Again, you're cheapest option is Mississippi State University is the cheapest option given it is 9k/year. There were a ton more schools, but the numbers get lower and lower. In the end, it all depends on your price point, the location of the school, the size, and other extracurriculars they do/don't offer that you may be interested in.
Thank you!
