Hey guys, I'm a senior and my dream school is the University of Notre Dame, but it's extremely difficult to get in to. Wanting to go here is a new development, and my freshman year I did not care about my grades, so I kind of tanked my gpa. I have a 4.498 (or a 3.64) which is not bad but my school rank is 51 out of 283 and I don't think my first semester classes are going to do anything to help my gpa before applications are due.
I'm taking 3 AP classes but two of them are online so they won't affect my gpa until May...
Does anyone have any suggestions about how I could make my application stand out? I'm waiting to get my SAT score back.
What about other school suggestions? Right now my list is 17 schools long... I have been accepted into 3 of them, and have applied to a total of 8 of them.
Thanks guys
I'd say focus on your extracurriculars! You have a pretty good GPA and school ranking, but since you don't have your AP and SAT scores, the next best thing to do is look over your extracurriculars. Any sports, clubs, outside organizations, leadership roles, etc. can definitely help boost your application! Colleges want to make sure that their students are well-rounded before making choices on who to accept, so when writing about your extracurriculars, make sure to focus on the "depth" of the activities, not the "width," or how many you do! They definitely prefer people who have dedicated themselves to one or two activities rather than people who joined six or seven but aren't dedicated/involved!
