I’m at a 2.28 (I know not good) and in the second half of my junior year, how can I raise my grade to at least a 3.0
Weighted courses will do the most for you (but make sure you don't fail them). Maybe try some easier APs (HUG, Environmental Science, Psych) or honors classes!
Ask about summer school or extra credit! Ik no one wants to do summer school, but some schools offer summer classes that only last 5-6 weeks, and if you cram, they are really helpful. And whether that helps or not, you should work on whatever it is affecting your grades so poorly. Do you struggle with motivation? Understanding the material? Time management? Or do you just not know?
For me, I have a good GPA, but I am always at risk for losing it because I have horrible time management skills (that and my program is more similar to college rather than traditional high school). I try to manage my time better my scheduling. It's not anything strict, but for me it is improvement. Even if you don't struggle with time, it can be helpful if you struggle studying or understanding material. Managing your time better can help you study more and not feel like you're super busy 24/7 from it.
Some people are saying try some honors classes. I've done honors Earth and space science, Honors Bio and Im currently doing Honors Chem. one thing i would do before taking them to better your GPA is making sure that those honors actually are weighted. In my high school, these honors classes have the same weight as regular general classes.
As a sophomore in high school, not taking any AP, IB, or Honours classes, with an unweighted GPA of 3.0, I recommend asking your teacher for extra credit work over breaks. It will help raise your grades and will also give you extra knowledge of the subject. It bumped my GPA of 2.7 unweighted up to my current 3.0 GPA.
