I am unsure as to how GPA's are calculated, do they include all 4 years of high school?
Answered

I am currently doing the IGCSE's, a British curriculum. We do not have any class rank neither do we have a GPA. I did not do as well as I would have liked to in Freshman year. I am mid-way through Sophmore year and I am doing just fine, not to great either. I am worried if this would negatively affect my chances of getting accepted into prestigious universities.

GPA's are calculated for about 3 years (up to junior year) and then colleges see your current/projected GPA as you apply to colleges. Making sure you take as many advanced classes or making sure you do well NOW and especially your junior year will help you have a better chance of admission. However, colleges do like to see an upward trend with your grades, meaning you improved your grades each year. So, if you didn't do as well your freshman year, that's OK! If your grades are getting better it looks really good on your applications! Best of luck :)
