Hello!
I'm taking a class at a local community college that ended up being pretty difficult for some reason and currently I have a B. I would honestly be pure luck if I were able to bring that up to an A at the point. However, I have 12 other A's from the same community college through different courses that I took to better understand my interests. Would this one B impact me greatly?
To keep it simple: as long as your high school GPA is great and the rest of your transcript (your other high school classes) looks good, you should be absolutely fine! Those 12 A's will surely swallow up your 1 B.
I don’t think that B will affect your chances of getting into a good school. If anything, you are hopefully expressing your interest in a certain major by taking these courses and you’re showing that you’re ready for college level course work. And you expressed how the other courses you took were all A’s. I think you’ll be fine :)
With the skyrocketing rates of college tuition, taking courses at your local community college is also a financially savvy move. Many community college courses transfer directly to four-year universities for full credit, and thus, you save both time and money before you even step foot onto your university campus. The likelihood of a full-credit transfer depends upon the articulation agreement between your community college and your chosen four-year institution. So taking community college classes will be an advantage to you. Here is some advice for you do some research on possible articulation agreements within your state or community college. For example in Ohio; We have a thing called Transfer Module Classes which are classes that transfer to any Ohio College.
To keep this community safe and supportive:
Sorry, I think that my initial question was a bit confusing. I’m still a high school student who has the opportunity to take classes at a community college (I’m class of 2023)
