Admissions Advice

American Idol vs. College
Answered

In the fall of 2022, I plan to audition for American Idol (auditions are held in mid-August-early-September). This is also when I'm supposed to start college. Should I wait until the spring of 2023 to begin, or should I try to multi-task?

Sorry for the late response, @McKellarr. Yes, I am auditioning in the fall of 2022. I haven't applied to any colleges yet, since I am still a Junior (I'll be a Senior in the 2021-2022 school year).

I think you should multi task. Don't put college off for an entire year for a few auditions.

Thank you for your input, @LUCIA. I thought the same thing, but I was worried about Hollywood Week and the showcase in Hawaii. Do you think admissions officers would recognize this? What would they say?

I would say follow your passion! There is also nothing wrong with taking a gap year, people do it all the time. Focus on what seems most important to you and don't over work yourself.
