If you are debating between the two

ACT = less time, slightly easier questions (especially for English grammar/comprehension section), easy to do ok on the optional writing section but really hard to get a perfect score.

SAT = more time, slightly harder questions, similar to PSAT, a little cheaper per test, requires more logic and critical thinking, optional writing section tends to be more difficult than ACT writing but is graded on an easier "curve", IMPT - some schools (Carnegie Mellon and Dartmouth for example) only "superscore" the SAT and not the ACT

Thanks for that really detailed explanation :)

My school has students take multiple PSATs and also has a heavy focus on AP, so I ended up performing much better on the SAT. However, if you're doing this poll to see which one you should take, I would recommend taking a full practice test for each, comparing the scores, and then focusing on studying for whichever one you did best to further improve that score for the official test.

definitely agree. rather than setting up polls on the internet, it'd be way more effective to just take the time to try out both practice tests, if it's that important to you.

didn't take both so can't say but in general it is said that it's easier to get a higher score on the ACT. however, colleges probably know that, so take that as you may.
