I've posted a question pretty similar to this before, so sorry for that. I'm a homeschool student, rising senior, and I'm getting a bit worried on where I can get recommendation letters. I've taken some community college classes, can my professors write reco letters for me? Alternatively, could my manager at work write them? I'm not applying for any ultra-competitive schools so do I even need reco letters?
Hello! Not all universities require recommendation letters but some do and they list who the recommenders can be. If the schools you are planning to apply to require recommendation letters, I would definitely email them and ask! However, if some of the universities/schools don't require recommendation letters, you should still have them! Having professors and/or your manager to write them would definitely work! Hope this helps!
While many colleges and universities, especially less competitive ones like you mentioned don't require them, recommendation letters are a great thing to add to your portfolio no matter where you apply. Professors and your manager would be a great place to start, and in addition, I would look and see if you have any coaches for teams you still play for or past internships. As far as professors go, I would target those who not only have the best impression of you, but who have known you longer than others.
