Is the Peer Essay Review only for college application essays?

I'm just curious, would it be okay to submit other pieces of writing to be reviewed, or should we just stick to college application essays to keep it relevant to Collegevine? Things like scholarship essays, etc.

Since this is a college admissions website, I recommend sticking to college/scholarship essays. I am pretty sure other essays would frustrate a reviewer.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. So what I'm getting from this is that it's technically fine, but try to avoid it bc it could get in the way of other people's (probably more important) essays which would be disrespectful to them. Maybe you could do it at a time when there were no essays waiting for review? Or maybe just avoid it altogether.

Correct. Because there is an option beyond admissions essay. I would recommed that you put in the Prompt section of your heading Not an admssions essay, in the first line so that it shows when listed to reviewers to allow the reader to decide wether they want to claim that essay or not.

Oh, that's a good idea, I didn't even think of that. Okay, so final answer--just make sure that the reviewer is AWARE so that they know what they're getting into. This way we can avoid reviewer frustration AND make sure that more important essays are prioritized (bc reviewers are more likely to choose the college essays they're accustomed to.)

Yes, that is the intention.

I really don't know what happens if you slip in a different kind of essay. Maybe the reviewer will report you? I'm not sure.

It's totally fine to submit other pieces of writing that aren't application essays! If you select "manually enter prompt" it will then give you the option to say that it isn't for an application essay and enter what it actually is (homework, etc.). I would suggest keeping submissions short though, so you can get valuable feedback!

Who said that? Everything on the peer review refers to college essays only.

Click "manually enter prompt", then when you go to the enter school section, it will give you a checklist option where you can instead choose the "this isn't an application essay" option and select "homework" or something else. I can't post a screenshot here, but try it for yourself! It's not immediately obvious, but it works.
