High School STEM Activities

Hello! I really want to start a robotics team at my school, but organizations like First Tech are just too expensive.

Does anyone know any organized robotics clubs or other STEM activities that are available to high school students that I could create a club for! (with money being a primary constraint)

If you have time, I would suggest taking a few months trying to find funds for an FTC team. I am part of a community FTC team so I don't have to worry about the costs, but I also helped raise money for my school's team (all freshman) where we raised about $2,500 dollars in 4 months. From there, I would go and start the season if possible, or get situated and prepped for next year.

Do you remember what fundraising activities you did to raise that much? I go to a relatively small school (150-200 in the whole high school) so in-school fundraisers won't help much.

I would suggest VEX Robotics as my school is big with competitions and also because as a Robotics enthusiast I'm always building VEX Robotics and Thankfully have beat my competitors. I hope you consider this. Good Luck!!!

Do you have any insight as to how much VEX costs or how difficult it is to start? Thanks for being so helpful!

Maybe just start with buying a lego mindstorm kit and see what you can do with that to drum up members. With more members, you can try fundraising with t shirts and such to enter competitions.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll think about it!
