I am intrested in a finance major or business related would voleentering at john hopkins or a non profit be better hoping for this to cover the comunity part of my application
Well, from the perspective of a college other than John Hopkins, the nonprofit would be better, but the opposite would be true for John Hopkins. Volunteering at John Hopkins shows your interest in John Hopkins, so they may like your dedication. However, any other college would be worried about whether you would choose them if you got accepted to John Hopkins, making them more hesitant to accept you instead of maybe just waitlisting.
Do both! Seriously, if possible do both extracurriculars as they are in different sectors and can show that you can volunteer in different capacities in different places. If you had to pick one though, I would probably suggest Johns Hopkins simply because it already has an established name and will be very familiar to admissions officers. A local-community non-profit may not have that name recognition.
