Hello, I am about to start writing the common app essay prompt #1. I actually have two main passions and I am confused about which one to choose. I have passion for teaching and also invention. I just like being innovative by suggesting new ideas. I am a prospective Stanford student.

Do you have experience in one more than the other? You mention you like being innovative by suggesting new ideas - have you actually built or designed anything or is it more you come up with ideas you think might be cool but aren't able to build them? I would suggest you write about whichever topic you have more experience in and which one you think you would be able to tell a better story with. If you've combined both your love for teaching and inventing in some way you can definitely consider writing an essay which includes both topics!
