Hi! Throughout high school, I found a hobby that I really enjoy (writing) and have pursued it in depth. I feel pretty satisfied with my extracurriculars and the impact I've had; however, I don't necessarily want to major in English or Creative Writing. I'm more interested in something like Economics. I'm a rising senior, so I don't think I'd have enough time to take up some economic-based ECs before college apps open. Am I still a competitive applicant if my declared major isn't directly related to all of my extracurriculars?
I have considered declaring a major that aligns more with my extracurriculars, but I am concerned about how successful I would be switching majors once I am in an academic institution.
I would greatly appreciate any insight that can help me make a decision. Thank you in advance :)
An idea that is possible is to come in as a Creative Writing major so colleges can appreciate your spike in a better light, then switch to economics?
