Would it be a good to write about an event that helped me realize the true value of hardwork?
Answered

I recently took AP Lang and was able to write and continually edit my personal growth common app essay. I wrote it about the terrible experience I had presenting an event for a club I participate in, which led me to understand what hard work actually looked like. I first show (not tell) my ambition but also my false sense of what hard work looked like. I then go on to show (again, not tell) an instance of that hard work after said presentation. I wrap the essay up by showing success from that hard work (winning an award). However, a lot of sources say that this topic is rather cliche and I should steer clear of it. Should I choose a new topic or edit this one?

You could probably make this topic less cliché. For example, could you write about a time when you put a lot of hard work toward something but did NOT receive recognition for it, and how, despite the lack of recognition, you still realized that the hard work was still worth it. Good luck with your essay!!!
