I was reading over the business school recommendations and it says they highly recommend that students take at least one year of a high school level calculus. Would honors pre calc count for this or will I have less of a chance at getting accepted because I decided to take AP stat instead of AP calc.
Hi @Jzapolski08
So taking Pre-Cal will not fulfill the Calculus requirement as PreCal concentrates on algebraic know-how which presumably will enable a pupil to compute. Students need to generate and track evidence, comprehend fundamental trigonometric functions (sine, cosine, tangent), make algebraic manipulations, and understand how things may be modeled in the real world in mathematics. Calculus using components and derivatives for most AP students. To define them, assess them, manipulate and relate them. And to understand them and, hopefully, understand their meaning. It's quite fascinating that you can cut a function into infinitely little bits and then mathematics on all the small portions. So instead I would suggest taking Pre-Cal during the summer or during the school year online and take AP Cal in school. Otherwise I feel that this one requirement may not reduce your chances as long as your other requirements are very strong. Good Luck!!!
Pre-Calc doesn't count as Calculus becuase it's basically Trigonometry and Math Analysis.

Also, 9 out 10 Business majors have no need for calculus either in their coursework or their practical experience after they graduate, so check with your colleges/major. The only exception is Finance or Financial Engineering.
