Ok, I've been stuck in these types of situations many times when many good ideas but cannot choose one of them, here are some tips I have for you rn

1. Choose your prompt: you need to make this very clear before you start writing your essay

2. Think of a topic that is important for you and aligns with your admissions profile

3. Be yourself, a college essay should be something no matter how hard someone tries cannot copy, it needs to be very authentic, very personal

4. Find a common link between you and the college, show how the topic can be solved or enhanced when you join the college.

5. Make it real, it should be something that exists and is easily found when the admissions officer tries to compare that to other essays

6. Make it unique.

That's it.

These are the questions/prompt we were given in a workshop to brainstorm.

1. If you had a box of your essence what would be inside?

A. An item that has a story to it.

B. did you have to save up for it?

C. would you leave it behind in a fire?

D. what object represents your dreams?

E. what reminds of your family?

The counselor gave the example of their keychain. Basically it matters to them because it signifies that others deem them worthy enough of carrying a bunch of important keys. The story is unique to them, and tells the reader they are responsible, trustworthy, and someone that cares about being the type of person others can rely on.
