Hi!! I'm an international student. I've got a super score of 1190 on the SAT. Should I apply without scores?
Thank you!
Hello! As a fellow int student, I suggest trying to see how you fit in within a school first. If you're applying to an elite school with about 20%-5% admission rates, then I suggest applying test-optional. However, if you're gonna apply to some safeties, then sending in your scores wouldn't hurt. Try to search for each uni's "Sat percentile" to see where your score fits in that range. If it doesn't appear, apply test optional. If it does appear within the 25th or 50th percentile, then you can send in your scores.
I would not submit a 1190 SAT score to the University of Miami.
For their 2020-2021 common data set, admits had a 1260-1400 for their middle 50% range. Your 1190 falls in the lowest quartile of acceptance rates and a score of 1410-1600 would be in the highest quartile. According to the CDS, a score of 1100-1190 would fall into the lowest 7% of students accepted, so 93% had a higher score. Would it make sense for you to submit an 1190?
I like being precise as possible with regard to test scores and acceptance rates. I'm sorry the news is not more positive.
Good luck
