Do Online Courses like Coursera count in applications?
Answered

Hi, quick question, would any course taken on Coursera or an equivalent be good enough to put on applications? Would colleges even take this into consideration if I put it? Thanks!

As far as MOOCs are concerned, I'm partial to eDx.org because you can take AP courses there that are aligned with the same curriculum other students have on their transcripts and these prepare you well for the AP tests. You can also take many longer duration for credit classes or certificatescourses. I think Coursera has a hodgepodge of courses some as short as 8 hours.

If you really want to boost your course rigor, I'd recommend taking a real college class online for credit and grades and get a transcript. Something either at your Community College, State University, or Outlier.org would be more impressive.

Good luck

I think that it depends whether or not you get a certification(that's just my understanding).
