So my writing isn’t the best, and when I signed up to take the ACT with my school, I was unaware that I was signing up for the ACT plus Writing. When I was taking the exam, I figured I could just submit the remainder of my ACT score and just not my writing score when sending test scores, so I wrote an essay that would pass but was not my best work. I scored an 8/12, which isn’t bad but it’s not great compared to the rest of my ACT scores, and I learned I have to send that score because they all get sent together. Will scoring a tad low change my admissions odds/be considered in admissions?
Just make sure you write and submit killer essays. An 8 is like borderline for Ivy's/Elites. I don't think it will matter very much. I'm guessing you are not applying as a humanities major like English or Journalism. I got an 11/12 but no one ever said to me that that was something memorable about my ACT score.
Just make sure to write great essays that ANSWER the prompts. Also, an 8/12 is not bad. Remember that most schools are now test optional and that you may not have to submit writing for all of your schools.
No if you have good ECs and gpa

Thank you! No I’m not, I’ve never been great at English or other humanities classes, and they don’t really interest me. That’s good to hear, as I’m applying to a couple of elite schools.
