Are virtual volunteer hours service hours and how do I track/verify them?

I virtually volunteer at sites like as a Smithsonian transcriber and at Stall Catchers yet I don't know if the hours I spend volunteering online count as service hours and if so, how to track and verify them. Thank you!

colleges won't ask you to verify your hours. they don't have the manpower to check through every activity on every applicant's application for accuracy. when you apply, you just have to tell them how many weeks/yr you participated in the thing and how many hours you spent per week on it. hours you spend volunteering online definitely count as service hours though, so track them in a way that allows you to accurately answer that question. spreadsheets work well.

Honestly from what i know colleges dont really check the information as long as its reasonable like don't say 5 hours a day every day. And if you have a supervisor you stay in contact with or another person that you work with get their contact info and use them as a reference (not in letter form) but as a way to show you did this also if you have an example of your work that helps or you were on a well known project that's great.
