Common App Immigrant/Cultural Essay
Answered

So I have doubts about my essay being too generic. I'm currently talking about how I lived in India for three years (ages 7-10) and how that pushed me to be different socially and academically currently. I feel like this is a very common topic though? Is there a different way I could spin this or talk about it to be more unique?

Hi, I'm also from India although I do not live in the USA. I'm not an expert but from the numerous articles I've read, there is nothing generic about being authentic. If you believe that talking about living in India can best portray your unique personality and abilities, you should go for it! As long as the AO can get a glimpse into your persona through the essay, you have nothing to worry about.

Hope this helps!
