About Taking the SAT in December
Answered

In spite of not having very good grades in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades, I regard still not taken the SAT yet. Would applying to MIT early be a good idea? However, I will be taking my board exams starting on 5th December. I’m not sure it would be a good idea to take the SAT on 4th December.

Hi @sahinkhan,

If you don't have a stellar GPA, the SAT is an additional metric through which you can demonstrate academic prowess to admissions officers. However, if you don't meet the minimum academic requirements for MIT, applying early might not be enough to make the phase one academic cutoff.

You don't want to commit Early to a school just because you think it will boost your admissions chances. That being said, MIT is non-binding in early admissions so the stakes are not as high if you do apply early.

To conclude: if you don't think you'll take the SAT and your GPA doesn't meet the recommended minimum, it may not be worth your time to invest so much energy in MIT when other schools that might be a better match fit your needs more. Hope this helps and best of luck!
