I think it's important you ask a teacher based on how close you are to them. My friend is pursuing a career in medicine, but he asked his English teacher to write one of his recommendations. This is because he is close with her, and she knows a lot about his extracurriculars. So I think its important that you ask someone that can best speak about your academic ability, rather than someone that is good for your field

I agree with the previous answer. Someone who you are close and is sure that he or she will write an impressive recommendation letter.

Also, I would recommend thinking about your major as well.

Some colleges ask for multiple recommendation letters. In those cases, I think you can choose someone who you know and someone who knows you and is your teacher for your major.

you can ask your closest teacher or the teacher that inspires you a lot. you can also ask your school counselor.

A baseline is to choose a teacher you feel comfortable with that you feel has seen good work from you. An extra mile would be to choose a teacher that teaches a subject close to what you want to major in, and have them mention how good you were at it ;)
