There are about 500 kids in my school. I’ve started a club in my school. How many members should I aim to have in my club for it to stand out to the ivies+? Anything I can do with my club to make it stand out? (It's a club that analyzes the intersections of political science and economics).
I would say it depends on the average amount of people that participate in your other school clubs. You have 500 students in total but if on average only a few participate in clubs say 15-25 per club having around that amount should be a good starting point but it would always be good to continuously grow.
Since it involves political science and economics you could try to get involved with local politics and government or plan a field trip to somewhere to a government building. Try to have activities that involve you directly in those fields.
As someone who also started a club, I really suggest going for at least 40 participants just so you can stand out. You may want to enter in competitions or create a major project within the club that could get highlighted in your school or local news just so it can have that "wow factor".
Hey! This sounds like a really great club and it looks like your peers have already made some really great suggestions to help answer your questions. I definitely agree that you should take a look at other clubs in your schools to get a better sense of the average number of members who join.
Of course if you'd like to gain more member and stand out, there's certainly a few ways to do that. I'd suggest sharing it on your school newsletter or bulletin, collaborating with other clubs, hosting events for non-members to learn more on club offerings or ask your advisor if they could share your club with other students.
I hope this help! Wishing you lots of luck!
