Do academic UIL events count as an EC?
Answered

I have done academic UIL events since middle school and I'm very passionate about what I do in my events. I try my best overall and I think this will help me strengthen my application because I'm still doing them to this day (I'm a Sophomore currently). My one confusion is if they count because they are sponsored by the school, yet I'm not sure if they're classified as an EC. Please help me because if they are counted as an EC then I can strengthen my profile greatly.

As I said a few hours ago, technically anything you do in your life outside of school is an EC. That could mean competing, any hobbies, any business or work, etc. The fact that you think it could help your application is strong evidence that you should add it. The whole point of adding ECs is for the AO to understand you and your interests better, so nearly everything (not illegal things) is on the table.

Hope that helps!
