My UC essays are quite good on their own, but only really shine when read as a whole. For example, I talked about being first-generation for my "challenge" essay but left a lot of the overcoming for my "greatest skill" essay where I talked about hard work and drive. Then in the hard work essay, I only implied passion while leaving my full description of it for the "favorite subject" essay. If the essay-reading process for admissions is fractured among many people then this strategy might not work, but I can’t imagine why that would happen. Should I sort of repeat myself in each essay to make them stand alone better, or keep the great-alone-but-fantastic-together strategy I got right now?
Make the essays be readable on their own but shared, common themes are always strong!!! Nobody knows how each school will be reading this year but I'd bet its likely that you will have only 1 or 2 readers.
