I am currently taking AP World History Modern as a sophomore and am super anxious about the AP test!! Especially with the writing portion and the fact that I will only have 55 minutes for stimulus multiple-choice questions. I feel as though I have the content down but it's the applying my knowledge and skills part that is nerve-wracking. I have hopes of getting a 4 and want to improve my writing for the SAQs, as well as being able to read fast and think fast when reading.
I'm also going to take the AP World History exam. Some tips my teacher told me is to remember the year 1492 because it was the day Columbus "found" America. When writing the thesis, follow the formula X, However, A+B. Therefore, Y. If you make mistakes, such as writing an essay different from what the question asked, go back and fix it. Even if you only have a few minutes. It's better to have a part of an answer than a wrong answer. You also need to write a contextualization paragraph in the essay. A contextualization paragraph is basically a paragraph about what's going on.
Heimler's History on youtube has got some great AP World videos that cover both the course content and the writing portion of the test. I got a 4 on the exam by using only my teacher's lectures and Heimler's videos.
