Mid-year Report

If I'm a regular 4.0 GPA student, and our GPA only counts our final (end of the 2 semesters) grade, will one B (88) on a mid-year report hurt my chances of admissions to selective colleges (Yale, Brown, etc.)? My GPA would remain virtually unchanged, and I would still be projected to receive an A in this class by the end of the year.

I'm not an expert by any means, just another senior, but I also have some classes that only take final grades and I don't believe grades not incorporated into your GPA would show in your mid-yr report. I'd recommend speaking with your counselor to see if this would even show. That being said if it did show, I don't think it would be worth worrying about, primarily because you can't change it. Will it hurt your chances? Probably, but I really doubt it will make or break your application, many kids at ivy leagues don't have perfect 4.0s. Basically, odds are if it's not in your GPA it's not on your mid-year, and if it is just take it on the chin and move on, it's out of your control at this point and if anything you should take it as motivation to improve your essays. Best of luck with the issue and the rest of your applications! :)
