Hello!
I am a high school Junior looking for ways to improve my profile.
My dream schools are Princeton (24%), UPenn (25%), Dartmouth (28%), and UVA (54%+Legacy)
Here are a few things about me. :)
Prospective economics major
Domestic Student
GPA ~3.85
SAT 1520 Composite
Excellent ec's for all schools except Yale and Harvard (chancing simulator only says "strong")
IB Diploma Program
Most rigorous course-load (except math, one level below maximum level for my grade)
I have had trouble thinking about how to best improve my profile, does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks so much!
I would say you can always improve yourself; don’t take the collegevine rankings too seriously because I know friends who got into their reach schools (as said on college vine) and those rejected from high-target schools. Take the percentage as a “rough gauge” as to where you stand, but I wouldn’t plan things using that percentages as a base for any plans. Improve wherever you can and that will ultimately increase your odds of getting into one or more of those schools
depends on what your ECs are but maybe you should work on that part because it seems like the at the point you're at, your grades and test scores won't have that big of an effect if you raise them imo. i've heard getting involved with community stuff is good, like volunteering and taking leadership roles so if you can do more of that then maybe that would be a good place to start. you can also show your areas of interest with volunteering/community service stuff depending on what you do to give back which could be good for developing your profile.
To keep this community safe and supportive:
I agree with this, I just use the collegevine as a rough estimate because sometimes it says "weak" when I am actually in the range and other times "strong" when it is not the case. Different schools look for different things.
