Screw up the Essays Format
Answered

I am an international student so I am not really familiarize with how the process work. I used common app to submit 3 applications and later realized I screw up the format because I copy paste in the text box and skipped a line every time I started a new paragraph and in the common app pdf the spaces between each paragraph was 2 lines and in some even 3 what I am worry about it is that it was inconsistent were for example the main common app essay had 2 spaces and in 2 occasions only 1 space. What should I do? Or they don’t really care about the format as long as the essay is good?

Hi, thank you for asking your question! I agree with the responses below. Unfortunately you cannot go back and reformat your essay. But nevertheless if your content is great then it should more than make up for the accidental formatting issue. I am sure admissions committees will see past this small mistake!

Best of luck!

Don’t worry. My friend did it and got into Dartmouth without any troubles. They don’t mind.

While I wouldn't recommend messing up on the formatting there isn't anything you can do to fix it. So don't stress and just hope for the best. Hopefully, the colleges will see through the small mistakes to the great student you are. Good Luck!

Once you submit your application, you can not make edits. Colleges understand that Int'l students might have more difficulty following instructions accurately so I wouldn't worry about it very much.

Good luck.

If you're talking about the 2 lined spaces common app gives between essay paragraphs then I think that's alright. Unless it is inconsistent (2 lines somewhere and 3 somewhere else in the same essay) and hard to read, you should be fine.
