Volunteer Opportunities
Answered

I plan to major in musical theatre, and my local theatre group (that I’ve been involved with since they were founded in 2012) is looking for a director for this year’s production. Obviously I couldn’t direct on my own, but would co-directing be a good idea for a unique and career-specific volunteering opportunity?

I think it would be a great opportunity to show your leadership and passion for theatre to colleges. It could show that you love theatre so much that you decided to direct a show instead for a change, to gain a different perspective on theatre. There's honestly no reason I can think of for why this wouldn't be a good idea, except if you really want to participate in the production as an actor.
