Admissions Advice

Stetson University
Answered

Hi, does anyone know what will make you stand out in an application to Stetson, I want to major in Graphic Design and minor in music (cello) and I am not sure what would stand out on admissions or what extracurriculars I should join as its my weakest point. Thanks (:

Stetson has an acceptance rate of 81%, so I would say as long as your grades are good and you do well on your essay then it can be considered a safety school. But, if you did want to seem competitive then I'd just make sure you can try to find a spike with graphic design and/or cello. If your school has an orchestra that would be a great start. Also, if your school has plays or musicals maybe you can join the pit orchestra or join stage crew and work on ser designs (I know that's not a lot like graphic design but it still shows creativity).

On Stetson's Common Data Set, they state what they look for in applicants on page 8 if you're curious: https://www.stetson.edu/administration/institutional-research/media/CDS_2019-2020.pdf

Stetson appreciates all degrees and your scholarship eligibility will not depend on whether you excelled in your political science program or mathematics program. A strong academic record in any field will make your application stand out
