Can I get into the Mays Business school at Texas A&M University?
Answered

I applied with a class rank of 371/842, a 95.8 weighted GPA, 2 letters of recommendation, a resume, I was a Varsity athlete in football, I took 8 Pre-AP classes and 8 AP classes throughout high school, and I have worked two jobs. Will this be good enough to get into the Mays business school?

You have a very good chance to get into the Mays Business School. Although its more competitive than general admissions like 40% vs 60%, you have a good chance.

Since I don't know very much about your Stats and Course Rigor, I think if you apply with a good std. test score like a 1250-1350 SAT or a 28-31 ACT score, your chances will improve. Also since it's a business school, if you have taken AP Calculus, AP Stats, AP Micro / Macro, that will greatly improve your odds as well. I don't know what you did for part time jobs, but if they had anything to do with learning some business skills, that's always a plus as well.

Unlike some other Business Schools, if you do get accepted into Texas A&M for something else, you can always change your major once you've completed like 4 core requirements and have a 3.5 GPA in them.

MATH 140 Business Mathematics I (or MATH 148#, 152 #, 168 or 172#)

MATH 142 Business Mathematics II – Calculus (or MATH 147#, 151 # or 171#)

ENGL 104 Composition and Rhetoric (or ENGL 210)

COMM 203 Public Speaking (or COMM 205 or 243)

ACCT 229 Introductory Accounting – Financial

ACCT 230 Introductory Accounting – Managerial

BUSN 203 Statistical Methods for Business

ECON 202 Principles of Economics – Microeconomics

ECON 203 Principles of Economics – Macroeconomics

ISTM 210 Fundamentals of Information Systems

Good luck.

Your stats certainly surpass the academic benchmarks that A&M is looking for, especially with your rigorous course load and solid weighted GPA. College admissions officers review applications holistically, meaning that they take many factors into consideration to understand whether you would be a good fit for their school. Here are some questions to help you think through your profile:

1. Will your 2 letters of recommendation be written by people who know you very well - ideally, well enough to explain your personality and how you have grown over time? If so, the recs will surely be good.

2. What other EC experiences do you have beyond being a varsity athlete and working two jobs? Your EC list will shine if you have at least two ECs related to the field of business you want to study, one long-term commitment, one EC that made a tangible impact in your community, and one fun, quirky EC. Most importantly, all of them should be unique and you should have an intellectual reason explaining why you did each activity.

3. Do you have a unique identity, passion, dream, or life story? This is what college admissions teams refer to as a "hook." Examples of one could be having a Navajo background, a dream to make nuclear fusion commercially viable, or a deeply philosophical story about how you do your best thinking in the bathroom. The key is to be creative and personal.
