Research?

Hey! I’m currently a freshman and I have a couple questions about research. I have heard a lot of other students say that they have conducted research with a professor. What does it mean when they say conduct research? Are there opportunities to research in some sort of humanities? I’m planning majoring in some sort of humanities and cannot stand science ( which is weirdly what I assume research is about).

I do research in biochemistry through an independent research program at my high school. If you are focusing in on the humanities, it may be better to focus less on "research" so to say, but you could definitely get in contact with a professor and

a) write a novel, research paper, etc. and attempt to publish it

b) conduct analysis of historical documents, texts, etc. and attempt to publish it

c) discuss humanities with the professor and find reputable courses and programs that are applicable to your interests

Any of these would look good to a college, and if you can get close with a professor, they could even write you a rec letter when the time comes.
