Hello I am currently a senior, who has a GPA of 3.96 and taken 8 AP classes along with 7 honors. I have taken 3 years of arabic at my school as well as held many leadership positions throughout numerous clubs. I am currently in Math, Science, and History Honor Society. As far as extra circulars I have conducted research which I understudied 5 different doctors, hosted a school wide donation drive for afghan refugee's, as well as raised 15k for an outside cultural expo in efforts to help reconstruction in Afghanistan. I thought I had written a great personal essay as well as creative supplements for UChicago. Though, I think my activities could be based more around my major Computer Science. Ever since my rejection from UChicago for ED 2, my ultimate goal is beefing up my application in order to transfer beginning of sophomore year. But what are the first steps I should take as far as now? How can I improve myself, and make sure I get accepted the second round?
Hello!
First off, I’m so sorry you didn’t get into your dream school. Your profile is so incredible in any right, things just get unrealistically competitive.
I can give you some ideas, but I think you are also likely to find so many opportunities by the time you attempt a transfer. Here are just some of what I think you could do to get a more computer science-related spike, even though you have a wonderful spike already for advocacy:
- code a website for your donation drive (try to start it back up in college!)
- try to gain some internship experience in college (which I’m sure you will) in the coding area —> letters of recommendation!
- maybe you could host a virtual coding class for under represented minorities?
This is all I have right now. I hope it helped!
Why UChicago? Didn't you apply to a bunch of RD schools as well? What happens if you get into a better school during RD? Are you still hoping to transfer to UChicago?
Just curious why some schools are at the top of people's lists when there are so many excellent choices out there.
