Do IEPs transfer over to college?
Answered

I'm a freshman in high school and I have ADHD and other things that affect my school life. I have an IEP and I am wondering if IEPs transfer over to college.

Hi @notarr!

Unfortunately, there are no IEPs in college; the accommodations you receive will vary by school.

You'll have to register as a student with disabilities and likely meet with an administrator to work out some plan for accommodations. These can include something like a tutor or extensions on papers, and the administration will notify your professors of your accommodations so that they follow them. The ease of registering and accommodations you receive will depend on that school's policies and resources. I'd check the websites of prospective colleges or reach out to their disability offices to get a sense of what these may be.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.
