How Many ECs Should I Take?
Answered

I'm a sophomore and currently have a 3.78 unweighted GPA. I attend a very well-known and prestigious high school. Here are the extracurriculars I've done so far:

- Varsity Basketball

- Club Soccer (Premier Level)

These ECs are very time-consuming and take up most, if not all, of my year. Do I need more ECs, or would this be enough to attend Division II and above colleges? I plan on majoring in psychology / neuroscience and prefer not to play a sport in college.

I would say take part in some community service (since that's something you can just do whenever and it is a good extracurricular and just thing to do in general) and something related to your intended major just to see if it's something you like as well. Maybe a club at your school or start a club if possible. Honestly, sports are a huge time commitment so if you include that in the additional information section that you were dedicated to sports and schoolwork (evident by your high GPA) and you should be good. Your transcript is more important and your extracurriculars are still really good it's just not a lot.

I recommend you to take part in major-related extracurriculars, specially if you want to attend a prestigious college and don't want to play sports. If you like psychology you could volunteer at a mental health non-profit or start your own passion project related to that field.
