I am planning on going into the medical field or something related to medicinal science. Junior year I could either take AP chemistry or regular physics. I'm trying to take as many AP classes as I can before I go to college, but I know that many colleges look for physics in the transcripts of applicants. For my desired field, is it necessary for me to take physics in order to be accepted into a school with my desired major (either general medicine or biomedical/biological sciences)?
I would take AP Chem since you're going into a medical field and I think it would make more sense for you to do it instead of AP Phys
I don't know about the relevance of physics to your field, but please don't take AP only to boost your coursework, unless you are sure you can do well in it! I am currently barely staying afloat in it, and I absolutely don't need it for my intended major. Definitely one of the hardest AP courses/exams. I would prioritize AP Bio/Chem.
It would show how you challenged yourself by taking an AP class that isn't going to be of high importance to your major. I have seen some students take AP History, Lang and such when their desired major was an Engineering of some sort, one of them got into Georgie Tech. If you can fit it in your schedule I would suggest to go for it. AP Chemistry should be of prime importance to you though in case you have to ditch one of them.
I would take AP Chemistry for sure. As for AP Physics, it is up to you. I am taking AP Physics next year and I am wanting to go Pre-Med. AP Physics definitely looks good, because it is a rigorous course. If you want to show colleges that you challenged yourself, I would take it.
AP physics is important, but in the medical field, ap chem applies much more to what you'll be learning at med school and at the prereqs.
