What should I major/minor in? Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Hi! I’m an indecisive person and I’m struggling to choose a path to study in college. I enjoy doing so many different things, ranging from graphic design to politics. Any ideas you have, I will greatly appreciate and consider :)

Some background on what I do/what subjects I like and don’t like:

-yearbook (photography, writing, graphic design, journalism)

-town newspaper (journalism)

-student government (government [at least as much as HS can offer lol], management)

-english and science are my favorite subjects

-I dislike math, especially algebra (but I don’t mind simple statistics or geometry)

-I run a lot of charity clubs that organize events and raise money, if that provides any helpful info

I want to be able to make a name for myself and make a lasting impact on society. I’m a people pleaser who is very involved in planning and organizing community events through numerous leadership roles. Very community oriented!

some of my ideas so far: journalism, political science, secondary education, film, graphic design, marketing, entertainment management, business, business management, pre-med, law

Hi! So considering you have a lot of interests i would do something that could lead to a future career where you get to express different interests. For example you could do something in the book design company (design covers??) and that way you can express creativity, read a lot knowing you like English, and most important you would get to read and work with all genres of books including political sciences. You would get to work with a community and talk to the authors about ideas and work with a team. Whatever you do i would think about future career goals then what would be the most helpful to that career goal.

It seems that you have a lot of interests. I think that you're very interested in political science based on the resume you have (yearbook, town newspaper, student government, charity clubs, establishing a name, and planning events). So, if I were you, I would pick political science based on that alone. However, there are a ton of factors to consider here.

If you are in college as undeclared, try taking as much courses related to your interests and pick a major from there. And if you're applying to college, I highly suggest you to choose undeclared as well.

Greetings sodapop2327,

Making a name for yourself is subjective. Do you mean having your own Wikipedia page? Earning a Nobel Prize? Being on the cover of TIME Magazine? Please be more specific about that and then I can help you.

Regards,

In any way I can, honestly. Time magazine or a Nobel prize is pretty cool, though.

Then journalism, business, film. Just keep in mind that those that are most successful were not intentional about receiving a Nobel prize or being in TIME. Starting a business or becoming a CEO for a Fortune 500 company is probably your best fit because you like managing people.
