Ask questions, dont be afraid to be wrong, and for high school dont worry too much about it, do what you gotta do and get your credits done sooner rather then later. Also check and see if your high school does dual enrollment, its a great way to get a grasp on college and have a better time in college itself.

Hi!

1. Time Management (have a daily schedule)

2. To -do list ( break it down into small tasks, this helps your brain think I only have to do these small task)

3. Communicate with your teachers when you need help

4. Use the Pomodoro technique to study

5. Sign yourself up with academics and non academics clubs and organizations both in school and outside of school

6. Make a list of things you are interested in doing in the future

7. Build your resume (with all your extracurriculars)

8. Take college classes while in high school (dual enrollment) ( take all the General education courses (to be ahead when you apply for college)

9. Don't stress

10. HAVE FUN! GO TO SCHOOL EVENTS :)

hope this helps! coming from a current senior

Hi Cody!

High school is much more manageable than people make it out to be. Even though, I will admit, there is a lot more homework than in middle school, it is easy to handle once you master time management. I am currently taking 4 honors classes and an advanced placement math class, and I still have plenty of time to pursue other activities that I am interested in. Furthermore, I am able to maintain a 4.0 fairly easily. The best things you can do to keep your grades up are completing the homework (I know it's annoying, but it's great extra practice), using Quizlets to study, keeping a to-do list (whether it's online or on paper), staying organized, and trying your best to understand the coursework (even if that means you have to do some outside research). You got this; it's really not that stressful or menacing!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!! Don't let anyone tell you that one year is more or less important than the others. All years are equally as important. Here's a tip I wish I knew my freshman year. Work as hard as you can your freshman year and keep those grades high. It's gonna be a lot harder to bring down your GPA if you start high. Take it from a high school junior that knew none of the hi9s freshman years and is now trying to bring my GPA up from a 2.7 to a 3.1 for applying to schools. Also, make good relationships with your teachers. A lot of the time having a good relationship can sometimes boost your grades or those teachers could give you a lot of leverage. Also, participate and don't be afraid to ask questions. I know at first I can be a little hard. But, if the teacher sees that you are trying and putting in work, it's more likely that they'll be easy on you if you were to miss an assignment, have something late, or need extra time. Also, don't be afraid to get help. If you're struggling in a class you can always ask the teacher to help you seperatly or get a tutor if the school offers one. I recommend tutor.com. It's free and very helpful. Something that can also be helpful is surrounding yourself with the right crowd at the right time. Sometimes you're going to want to have fun and that's 100% fine. But, if you know certain people are always going to be on top of their work and ahead of the game, try to get to know them. It could motivate you to have a surrounding where the people around you are motivated as well. Finally, have your motivation. Having the mindset of "iit'sjust school" and "I want to go hoke" all the time won't do anything but discourage you and make you get lazy. I know it's hard not to think that because most people don't like school but having a long-term goal that you are looking forward to achieving can help motivate you to excel in your schoolwork. I know this is long lol but I just wanted to tell you the important stuff that I wish I knew before I started high school. I hope this helps! Good luck! (BTW don't get sucked into a popularity contest. Most of the time they don't care about their grades or future they just think they're "too cool for school"You're not there to make friends, you're there to get that education and get on the road to success!)

the best advice for high school is to do things regardless of how people view you. obviously don't mean this in a negative way, but don't let anyone looking down on you or any type of peer pressure prevent you from extracurriculars such as clubs or sports. the only people in high school you're still going to know by the time you're in college are the ones you want to know

also, don't stress yourself. it's almost impossible not to and anyone who's ever been in highschool will tell you that they were stressing basically the whole time. If you give just an hour each day to studying whatever you need to you'll prolly get straight A's, even if you're taking advanced classes.

You're taking a very early start which is super great! Some advice I can give you for high school is that you absolutely need to stay on top of your academics and focus, but if you're going to slack do it in moderation. For example I may not do one assignment, but I replace it with another grade possibly and make up for it.. I'd also suggest just having fun maybe join some clubs and find some extracurriculars you're interested in. Make connections with your teachers ! Its good to have those bonds so that the teacher can get to know who you are and ultimately look out for you as well. Try your best and if you're struggling just talk to someone and compromise. Take chances but don't overdo it.
