My name is Keirah and I'd want to introduce myself. I am a sophomore in high school and enrolled in VoTech, a health science program. My goal is to work as a traveling anesthesiologist. Anyway, in my senior year of health science,I will be working in a office as a medical assistant, but I was also considering taking classes to be a CNA to put what I had learned in health science to good use. Is it a waste of time to become a CNA if I'm already going to be doing things as a medical assistant until I go to college?
I think that it could be worthwhile to be a CNA because it would bolster your extracurricular list. Few college applicants are able to become CNAs, and it would be a more valuable activity for you to pursue than many other possibilities. With that said, I would advise against taking the CNA classes if you feel that your EC list is already strong. I also think you should not take them if doing so would require you to put other parts of your applicant profile on the backburner, such as your essay writing time, standardized test prep, etc. Hope this helps!
